We love to see dogs enjoying time with their humans in Pier Park; whether walking a loop on our paths, accompanying disc golfers for a casual round, or passing through on the way to the Chimney Park off-leash dog area, it’s great to see you out in the park together.
However, we need to remind everyone that, except in the designated area in Chimney Park, dogs are required to be on a leash.
Violent encounters involving off-leash dogs have been called to our attention too often. Frequently, it seems to be between off-leash dogs and dogs on a leash. Please respect the rules and the other dog owners who are adhering to them.
The off-leash area in Chimney Park is there as a place to let pups run. It’s only a few steps away from Pier just across the bridge from the disc golf course. If you’re at Pier to play golf, take a short break between holes 2 and 3 for a stop at Chimney to let your canine buddies tire themselves out a bit before continuing. If you’re walking your pooch to Chimney, keep them leashed till you get there, and when you leave.
Everyone please help by leading by example, and calling out to those not adhering that leashes are required in Pier Park.
Thanks,
Friends of Pier Park Board
