Swimmers at Pier Pool

Pier Pool is the center of activity for North Portland children and families. Portland Parks and Recreation offers swim lessons, lap swimming, summer swim team, open play swim and water aerobics as well as Junior Lifeguard and Swim Instructor training at Pier Pool throughout the summer months. Literally generations of residents have learned to swim, played in and worked at Pier Pool. Set at the southwest entrance to Pier Park, the pool is surrounded with established Cedars.

One of the many successes for Friends of Pier Park is keeping Pier Pool open through round-after-round of budget cuts. Recently Pier Pool received a much-needed facelift which included new plumbing and floors. Still, Pier Pool’s pump is from one of the original World War II Victory Ships.
